It’s Show Time! Engaging Hearts and Minds Workshop Series Is Back By Popular Demand!

Building on the momentum of previous years, we’re excited to offer this fresh and unique professional learning opportunity designed to transform your teaching practice. Our virtual six-session workshop will immerse you in the power of authentic learning and leadership strategies, helping you to see, feel, and reflect on the impact they have like never before.

Why Attend?

Through an exciting “film festival” format, each session will be dynamic, collaborative, and thought-provoking. You’ll engage with carefully selected film and video segments that bring to life the transformative potential of instructional strategies like service-learning, PBL, STEM/STEAM, and design thinking. One of our selections will be “Freedom Writers,” a feature film based on the experiences of Los Angeles teacher, Erin Gruwell. Erin will be our opening keynote presenter at the 2025 Summer Institute for Authentic Learning and Leadership in Columbus, OH.

Workshop Highlights:

  • Inspiring Media: Sessions will feature powerful films and video clips that illustrate best practices. Some longer selections will be viewed ahead of time, allowing class time to focus on rich discussions and reflections.

  • Interactive Format: Discussions, reflections, and related readings will help you deepen your understanding and application of these strategies.

  • Flexible & Accessible: This hybrid course, offered via Zoom and Google Classroom, welcomes both new participants and those who have previously joined. If you’ve seen specific films before, we’ll provide alternate selections with compatible themes to keep the experience fresh.

Essential Questions We’ll Explore:

  • How could authentic learning boost learners’ emotional engagement, foster community, and drive academic success?

  • How does authentic learning bring together rigor, relevance, and relationships to empower us?

  • How do real-life examples inspire our own teaching?
