Creating Schools That Are Out of This World … The Journey Continues!
Our 2026 Institute theme, "Creating Schools That Are Out of This World … The Journey Continues!” will help us continue to explore frontiers of space together—not just outer space, but also inner space, school and classroom space, community and workforce space, and the local and global space we share. The continuation of this special theme will help us transform the setting at Upper Arlington High School (OH) with a sense of curiosity, wonder, adventure, and shared vision and mission. It will also enhance our attention to student and staff well-being, school environment and culture, career and workforce development, and civic engagement and responsibility. All of these elements are key components of authentic learning and leadership.
Selection Process
We will review your proposal for clarity and alignment to the Institute themes, and we will notify Summer Institute presenters on a rolling basis until March 27, 2026. All confirmed breakout session presenters must also register for the 2026 Summer Institute and will receive a reduced registration fee of $350.00.
Like last year, selected presenters will be asked to attend one brief zoom session (TBD in May) in preparation for the Institute. Multiple dates will be offered to fit busy schedules.
We're so thankful for your support and interest in the 2026 Summer Institute as a time to network, dream, innovate, “find/renew your WHY,” and celebrate! Questions? Please reach out to us!

2026 Institute Breakout Session Themes
Strong breakout session proposals will elevate key dimensions of authentic learning and leadership, including at least one of the following dimensions: community engagement, civic responsibility, authentic learning instructional strategies, such as service-learning, design thinking, and project-based learning, career awareness/exploration, student and staff well-being, school culture and environment, and the creation of learning experiences that truly matter.
While we will again feature a wide range of topics, we are especially seeking proposal applications and presenters with authentic, experience-based approaches in priority areas: literacy, STEM/STEAM, service-learning, design thinking, gifted education, special education, arts and creativity, career awareness/exploration, and authentic leadership.
